How to maintain a sump pump

This basement suffered category 3 water damage after a storm.

A sump pump is used to remove water from vulnerable parts of a house, which greatly reduces the risk of widespread water damage. If your home has a sump pump, there are several steps you can take to keep it in good condition.

Regularly inspect your pump for buildup and clogs; clear away any debris to prevent future clogging.
Make sure the pump has constant access to electricity and is plugged into a GFCI outlet.
Ensure that the plug, cord and backup battery (if applicable) are all in good shape.

If your home experiences water damage that your sump pump can't handle, give us a call.
